Dear readers,
It has been very busy since coming home from our friends wedding in Barcelona.
Within a couple of days of returning from Barcelona our boiler broke. British Gas had to send an engineer out 7 or 8 times in the space of 1 month!! Unfortunately it didn’t help and we ended up having to buy a new boiler… just in time for my brother and his girlfriend to come and visit us from Sweden. It was lovely to see them and spe...

Dear reader,
During the first weekend of October we attended a friends wedding in Barcelona, Spain. As we had never visited the city before we decided to make a long weekend of it so we left London on Thursday 1st Oct and flew back on Monday 5th.
The wedding was fabulous; the bride was beautiful and the groom handsome!
The reception was held some 30km outside of town at a charming hotel by the seaside.
Barcelona itself faile...

Remember the lovely light grey (almost silver) and darker grey yarn DH got me in Italy? Secondo by Lana Grossa...?
Well, I can safely say I hate the yarn and will never EVER knit with it again!!
Why you ask? OK, I admit it's very shiny and nice and it does feel divine against the skin... however, it is an utter nightmare to work with. It's so slippery you have to wrap the yarn around your fingers AND hold on for dear life to even have a ...

Dear husband,
You will soon notice a 'small' sum of money missing from your account, however, there is no need to be alarmed as there is a perfectly good reason for this, which I will now outline below.
As you know, I went to town today to meet with my dear friend SmashingPuffin for some catching up and knitting. We met up at our usual tea-house for some coffee and a light lunch and had a lovely time.
As you also know, SmashingPuffin is a good ...

Dear follow knitters,
After removing my Toe Up version of Eunny Jang's Bayerische sock earlier this year I have received numerous messages asking when it will be available again.
The original 'pattern' I originally made available was pretty much just my notes from having knitted the sock to up and left quite a few things to be desired/improved upon.
The main reasons I was unhappy with it were:
1) The toe I did is terrible (it's a sta...

Hello dear reader,
I have decided not to give you an update on the house and the re-decoration... to be honest I'm a bit fed up with it and will wait to post about it when it is all finished - or at least almost finished.
Instead I want to share some pictures of our recent week in Tenerife - a well deserved and needed break from 'The House' !!
Most of the week we just relaxed; lounging around, reading, swimming, drinking and eatin...

A small update on how things are moving along... actually, just some pictures with a brief comment of the progress as I have to be honest; I don't have the energy for anything else, this decorating business is sucking the life-energy out of me...
Anyway, here we go. The hallway has now been fully wallpapered, this is upstairs just outside the kids room and as you can see the hatch to the small loft has now one lick of paint on it

3 days later and this is the progress our personal Chippendale-builders have made:
The hallway upstairs just outside the kids room have some wallpaper put up... yes, I know, the hatch to the small loft has not been painted yet!
In frontroom 2, one coat of the red accent paint have been done
. Looks cool doe...

We have finally started on the last part of our re-decoration: the hallway and both front rooms (living rooms). We started stripping paint and sanding some months ago but have now realised we cannot get it done ourselves...
We were getting desperate to have a 'home' back, especially somewhere to sit down like civilised people at a dinner table when having our meals; for months we've been having our meals on trays in our laps sitting in the only 2 chairs not 'packed' a...

DH has been away on business most of the week (he was away most of last week as well) and I've missed him... a lot. Actually, thinking about it he's away most weeks at the moment and have been for the last 6 months or so.
Missing him is not good for my knitting mojo. I've finished my last project and all I need to do is to name it, write out the pattern and take some photos... that's all...
I can't think of a name and the weather has been horrible so taking...
